Tradition was oozing as the Stangs arrived at Nebraska’s 1st
capitol building to take on the Eagle’s. The mark of a good team is how
they adjust to uncomfortable conditions. And this was no exception. With
a cold front passing through and playing in the tight confines of Seaman
Stadium, the challenge would be to adapt their game to tight quarters
and physical play. High pressure defense got them rolling as they won
ball after ball in the midfield creating dangerous chances. Brian
Talcott showed great vision on the first goal hitting a free kick from
the back third to a well timed run by Cam Kellner to get MN on the
board. Then pressure by Mitch Ferris resulted in an opportunity as he
did up 3 Eagle defenders before finding Ethan Bennett for the second
goal of the game. This raised the Mustang record to 2 and 0. Coach
Lundgren should be noted for regaling the boys as they came off the
field with tall tales of Nebraska lore. Coach Lundgren’s affinity for
keeping with a theme is unparalleled.
